Training & Focus
I have a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Asian Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City. I am licensed to practice Acupuncture and Asian Bodywork by the California Acupuncture Board. I received my Bodywork training from the Utah College of Massage Therapy in 2000, where I studied Shiatsu, Acupressure, Structural Integration, Swedish, Russian Sports and Rehabilitation Massage. In 2013, I studied Somatic Psychology at California Institute of Integral Studies, where I completed Masters level coursework in Therapeutic Communication and Counseling, Somatics and Integral Psychology.
In addition to my private practice, I work with the guidance of Marnie McCurdy at East-West Integrative Medicine, where I treat a wide array of ailments, particularly in the areas of women's health and pregnancy support. My ongoing research is using Chinese Medicine and Somatics in the treatment of trauma, injury, emotional imbalances and stress related issues.
Approach & Modalities
I use a very hands on approach. The body is a magnificent revealer of experience; I use my training in therapeutic massage to decipher what the body is holding, and what can be released. I draw from my past dance and choreography experience to find creative ways to integrate movement, bodywork and acupuncture towards your rehabilitation from injury and pain. My background in counseling psychology, mindfulness and Somatics helps me facilitate an embodied presence and guides you toward a deeper understanding of yourself. My Chinese medicine training allows me to see connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena of your experience, thus uncovering the root cause of the ailment you are seeking to treat. When you are committed to your healing, we can work together to restore you back to balance.
